‘Boom Bapped’ is a new release from acclaimed drummer, producer, and sonic collagist Makaya McCraven. The track, taken from the upcoming Techno Logic, is a collaboration between McCraven, Ben LaMar Gay and Theon Cross built on a loop plucked straight out of their first performance in London back in 2017. Gay’s cornet lines are the focal point of the track, while clever overdubs on keys and vibraphone fill out the texture. Alongside ‘Boomed Bapped’, Makaya McCraven has released three other singles, each taken from his other three upcoming EPs, The People’s Mixtape, Hidden Out!, and PopUp Shop, which will be available to listen to on October 31st, 2025. -Dan Peeke
